The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on Wednesday issued an emergency “Do Not Drive” warning certain Nissan and Infinity vehicles manufactured between 2002 and 2006 due to unrepaired Takata air bags that are the subject of a recall. According the NHTSA’s notice,
The warning covers certain model year 2002-2006 Nissan Sentra, 2002-2004 Nissan Pathfinder and 2002-2003 Infiniti QX4 vehicles that are subject to open Takata air bag recalls under NHTSA recall campaigns 20V-008 and 20V-747.
At least 27 people in the US have been killed by defective Takata air bags in recent years resulting from defective inflators that can explode even in minor crashes, with at least 400 injured.
